We are buzzing to share our friend Jean Vernon's upcoming Spring events local to us, in Devon!
Jean is passionate about championing bees and pollinators and wildlife of all sorts. Fascinated by bees and the enviroment since Jean was a youngster she graduated with a degree in Botany from Nottingham University and is the author of the best-selling bee book “The Secret Lives of Garden Bees” (2020) and “Attracting Garden Pollinators” (2022).
Jean was the wildlife columnist for the RHS Journal “The Garden” and writes about pollinators and bees in the gardening section of The Daily Telegraph. She has been awarded the Beth Chatto Environmental Award in 2020 for her feature on bees in the Daily Telegraph, and was a finalist for the Garden Media Guild Award for Environmental Journalist of the Year in 2023. She has made it her mission to unravel, demystify and explain the intricate balance of nature in your garden.

Learn more about the wild bees living and foraging in your garden. You will be introduced to some of the charming bumblebees and fascinating solitary bees that bring our gardens alive and pollinate our plants. Learn about their nesting needs and some of the power plants that really make a difference.
With a little understanding of the needs of your garden bees you can make powerful plant and gardening choices to transform your plot into a true bee-friendly, pollinator paradise. Please note this event does not focus on honeybees.

Join Jean and a group of bee lovers on a “Bee Safari” in the Nectar Gardens of Quince Honey Farm.
You will be taken on a “walk and talk” tour where you will learn more about the fascinating lives of both familiar and unfamiliar bees that live, breed and breathe within the garden habitat. Jean will share stories about some of our quirky bee friends and introduce you to some real power plants for pollinators, inspiring you to transform your own plot into a pollinator paradise!
This “Bee Safari” will explore the fascinating world and diversity of our garden bees, including solitary bees and bumblebees, reveal the secrets to supporting pollinators and introduce the what, how and why of creating your own pollinator paradise. It will not focus on honey bees – a nice change at Quince Honey Farm!
This is guaranteed to be a unique experience, either as a treat for yourself or a perfect gift for the nature enthusiast or garden lover in your life. Places are limited so advance booking is essential!
