Getting Started with Your Pocket Flower Press

As soon as you receive and open your flower press, you can head straight out into nature and start foraging! But to get the best results — and avoid harming any wildlife — there are a few easy steps to follow.

1. Pick Your Flowers

Choose the flowers or foliage you wish to press and make sure they fit inside the press. You can gently trim the stems if needed.
🌿 Tip: Avoid using flowers with high moisture content, as this can lead to mould or poor drying.

2. Layer the Materials

Each press comes with:

  • 5 sheets of corrugated card
  • 8 pieces of sugar paper

To assemble:

  1. Place a sheet of sugar paper on a piece of corrugated card.
  2. Gently arrange your flower(s) on top.
  3. Cover with a second piece of sugar paper.
  4. Sandwich everything between the wooden boards.

3. Secure the Press

Use the two elastic bands provided to firmly hold the press together. Make sure it’s tight enough to flatten the flowers evenly.

4. Let Time Work Its Magic

Be patient! Different flowers will take different amounts of time to dry, depending on their size, moisture, and the climate.
📍 We recommend storing your press somewhere warm and dry for best results.

Bee Responsible!

At the heart of any foraging experience is responsibility. Always collect flowers and foliage thoughtfully. The BSBI Code of Conduct offers all the guidance you need to forage ethically.
